- Republican presidential candidate and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich speaks at a town hall style event in the Staten Island borough of New York Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011. (CRAIG RUTTLE / AP)
Interesting article by a Canadian newspaper of all places, detailing Newt’s history or serial hypocrisy, but the best thing Republicans think they have going for them. The funny part is, the article doesn’t mention Ron Paul or compare Newt to Ron… but it did make the comparison to every other person in the running.
What is it with the media that completely ignores Ron Paul?

Although the old style was much closer to the “political” theme of the website, I’ve decided to try out a new theme. This one should be less crowded and make it easier to go through the different pages and posts. Let me know what you guys think!
Here’s a link to a screenshot of the old theme!
Well, Internet, congratulations.
The news has come in that many of the supporters of these bills, including its cosponsors and some of those that were on the fence, have come out publicly to state that they will vote against them as they stand. More than 4.5 million people signed their names to the Google petition and 300,000 people emailed or called their lawmakers. There were reports of overrun switchboards and web servers croaking under the amount of traffic they were receiving. Actual, physical protests were also held in many cities around the country.
Most of the defectors reasoned that this bill was pushed way too fast without enough feedback from Internet experts. They did not want to pass a law that could harm the Internet in any way. However, there are still many supporters for these bills, so even if we have won this round, there is still a lot of work to do. Hopefully, the momentum that is caused by this solidarity on the Internet will keep up and lead to a positive outcome: a bill that fights online piracy, but does not cause collateral damage to others on the Internet.

So, there are a couple of bills floating around congress now that will give the ability to certain groups, like the music and movie industries, the right to censor and block content on the Internet. These are the same companies that can and have sued for MILLIONS of dollars when Joe Schmoe downloads a song. Anyone who thinks that giving them this kind of power is a good idea is, well, an idiot.
So in protest, a multitude of websites, including Reddit and Wikipedia, will be “blacking out” their websites tomorrow, January 18, starting at 8am. This means that you will not be able to use these websites, but instead will be greeted by a message or some other form of information stating that this website has been blocked.
Political Idiots will be joining the movement by going offline as well. There is also a Facebook event that has additional information on what you can do to protest or support the movement. Please join us in fighting this bill as it is an attack on our First Amendment rights.

Has anyone been paying attention to the smack talk lately by the GOP candidates about Romney? How Romney is using his money to basically buy the election? Gingrich, of all people, got into the act by complaining about how Romney is using his money to buy political attack ads and attacking Romney for the time he spent making that money working at Baine Capital (by bankrupting companies and laying off employees). He’s repeated time and time again that he doesn’t have the type of money that Romney has. Gingrich is basically saying that that this just isn’t fair.
What isn’t fair Gingrich? Isn’t your party the one that believes in reducing regulations, bringing about free markets and amassing wealth? How did Romney get his fortune? Oh, that’s right! He did it by working in the PRIVATE SECTOR, making his money by bankrupting companies and laying off employees. Romney is the poster boy of what it means to be a Republican. Now that you have to run against this wealth, you’re now complaining about the result of your conservative economic policies?
John Stewart summed it up when he called Gingrich and the rest of the his group “the 99%… of the 1%.” This hypocrisy is unbelievable.
